Receptionist Relief

Our company actually calls on all the EA's to take either a 30 minute timeframe or an hour timeframe, voluntarily. We have about 30 EA's so between us all, we just volunteer if there is a need. It seems to work out just fine.

We have 13 admin assts in our building. We each take turns covering the phones for lunch from 11:30-12:30, rotating each week. For vacation coverage, we hire a temp if the receptionist will be gone for 3 or more days. If she's only gone for one day, we ask for volunteers to cover 2 hour shifts. We have a similar issue here. There are 9 admins that take turns on a rotating schedule. One person is assigned breaks (15 min each morning/afternoon) and lunch is divided into 30 minutes as well. Assignments are for a week. If somebody cannot make their assigned time it is up to that individual to find a replacement. Jeanette Bright on 8/25/2008 7:10:07 AM
We have 3 women who work in our front reception area, including the receptionist so they all take turns answering the phones and greeting visitors in addition to their other responsibilities. They take turns going to lunch and stagger their vacation schedules so they are never short handed. There is occasion when I am asked to come up front to relieve someone for a few minutes when they are short handed. SLB on 8/25/2008 5:59:58 AM
I am in an office of 8. We all just take turns answering the phones from our desk. Jeanne Ewert on 8/22/2008 6:37:58 PM
