Hi Sheila, Sorry to hear about yoru job. I work at an independent school and so far I am still working full-time. Hopefully enrollment does not drop drastically next year. So, I decided to try doing a home based business part-time. I signed up to be an independent rep for Wildtree - an exciting direct-sales company whose all natural gourmet culinary blends, infused Grapeseed oils, dressings and sauces are sold through home Tasting parties. Their products are all natrual, free of hydrogenated fats, preservatives, artificial flavors, additives and MSGs. I can average about and extra $200 a month. You can earn much more - that all depends on how much you wold like to do each month. The company was founded in 1996, so it is still fairly new and this is the best time to start your home based business. If you would like to learn more check out my website at www.dp.mywildtree.com. Like another poster I would also suggest attending and/or joining International Association of Administrative Professionals. Not just for the education aspect, which is great, but the networking as well. Often one of us will know of a position that might be opening up and we share among ourselves and our fellow chapter members as we are interested in helping employers find the quality employee that is willing to make an investment in themselves. We will also be having a session at one of our Chapter meetings with Office Team coming in to talk about creating a competency based resume that will help your resume move to the top of the pile. With today's recession you need to do whatever you can to recession proof yourself. Finally, another site I've visited when I was seeking a job was www.ihiresecretarial.com. You do have to pay a small membership fee, but they seemed to have good leads and limited postings from agencies or others attempting to harvest information. Good luck and remember to keep positive. Sheila if you send me a friend request on linked in or facebook I'll try to keep you apprised of positions I hear about. Victoria Hahn on 2/11/2009 3:49:46 PM
Check out Kelly Services web site. They've posted a whole bunch of positions. You may have luck with them. I've had great experience with them. Rene Rivers on 2/5/2009 6:18:26 PM
I think that I would think outside the box now that jobs are getting harder to find. Check out industries that you have not worked in before; such as healthcare, school systems, manufacturing; universities; etc. So far (at least in the Midwest) healthcare companies (insurance companies and hospitals) have been somewhat immune to the downward trend in the economy. Given that you have 15 years experience, I would imagine that a company worth their salt would choose you over a new grad. Also, have you thought about going back to school for something like a paralegal degree or marketing? Those are invaluable to certain industries and would make you more marketable. Good luck to you! I'm not sure what area of the country you are in, but I would go to an agency. You could register with the permanent replacement and temp so you could get temp work until they find you something permanent. Office Team is a good agency. I have a friend who did that, she worked temp and then was actually hired on as a perm at the temp job she was working at. Good Luck, Lori Lori E on 2/5/2009 11:51:07 AM
