Tickler Program

I am responsible for re-credentialing physicans and nurses in my facility. I need a program that will remind me when their license, certification, etc expires so that I can remind them to bring their current information to me for their files. Does anyone know of such a program.

I was once in a position where I was responsible for physician and service provider contracts. I found that Access was a wonderful tool that allows you to track, run monthly reports but physicin, specialty, term dates, etc. Cynde Maus on 11/1/2007 12:31:54 PM
We have a program called Midas Seeker that the lady who does our credentialing utilizes. I am sure it is probably quite expensive so I would recommend using Outlook also. Sheliah Garner on 11/1/2007 11:49:45 AM
I agree with using Outlook and Access. You may also use Excel. If your company has an IT Dept., they can create a program for you that combines the calendar outlook properties and the database you create in Access or Excel. Joyce Zimmerman on 11/1/2007 11:39:15 AM
I work for an attorney and he has to renew his state, national and international association fees / licenses. I use a task list and make it reoccurring, so I can mark complete after I've updated, leave myself notes on any issues or account numbers I need next time and set it for certain days, not necessarily actual dates, of the year. I use this a great deal on anything of his, because we have arbitrations and such that I also have to keep up with different tasks that need to be completed and it doesn't clutter my calendar with all sorts of appointments that are actually tasks I hope this helps. If you need help on the Task Listing just let me know and I'll walk you through it. Cynthia Kimbrough on 11/1/2007 11:16:20 AM
Our HRIS system has fields that hold this information. We enter the type of license and expiration date and then are able to run reports pulling those fields. Anonymous on 11/1/2007 11:02:22 AM
Like Andrea, I would encourage you to use the tools already at your disposal. If you are using Microsoft Outlook, there are several ways of doing this. You could set a task reminder for each expiration - however, depending on how many staff physicians and nurses you have - and also, being in the medical field - I recognize that several of them have multiple credentials. You could also use Microsoft Access to build a database where you could record their name, their department, their licensing agency, the record number, expiration date, etc. Then you could run a report on that information on a routine basis (monthly for two months ahead of schedule to allow for processing time) and this will allow you to see in an easy snapshot all of the expiring licenses up for renewal. Additionally, you can shift and change around that information so you can document the amount of activity this requires and the frequency, etc. If you need further information on using MS Access, please feel free to email me directly at jking@gene.com. I would use Microsoft Outlook Calendar. It is very easy to use and it will remind you several times per year, month, etc. Donna Brown on 11/1/2007 10:59:48 AM
I use my microsoft outlook calendar with the reminder button checked to remind me of when certain things are due. Andrea Ryba on 11/1/2007 10:53:33 AM
