Hi! I'm interested in getting my Microsoft Office certification in Word, Excel, Powerpoing and Access. I've checked Microsoft's website for information and there is so much information out there it was a bit overwhelming. Have any members received their certification? Any suggestions on study guides or training (instructor led or self-study) you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Cheryl,
I recently completed my Microsoft Certification for PowerPoint. I studied for the exam by reading "Step by Step, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003" from Microsoft Press. I felt that I understood the program quite well and would not benefit greatly from attending a class. I purchased skill assessment software from Self Test Software and I cannot say enough about the benefits of this software and it's cost is less than $50 (www.selftestsoftware.com). I also purchased the study guide, but I did not use it (the Microsoft Press book provided plenty of resource information). I am currently preparing for the Outlook 2003 exam in the same way. Good luck to you.

Hello,
I have certifications in Word, Excel and Access. My recommendation is to locate a testing center near you and ask to speak with a counselor on staff. They can probably guide you through the steps to receive the appropriate certifications to meet your current needs.

There is a company near my work that offers a certification package. The classes are at a greatly reduced rate (compared to signing up for them individually). If you need a refresher, you can take whatever class you need again for free (within certain time limits). I received authorization from my boss for my company to pay for my classes, as it will benefit my work there.

I did start with Excel and I did take this course at the Community Collegue that offers classes for Adults and you can walk your way to the certification. The price of the course was reasonable and I had a very good Instructor. Classes were after work for 3 hours at a time.
