Does anyone have any direction on creating and maintaining an executive dashboard. I'm told its a document or resource that an assigned group of people can review at any time to monitor key factors in managing the business.

An extensive executive dashboard can be created and maintained on a Microsoft Sharepoint server by your IT dept. If you aren't familiar with Sharepoint, do a Google search to research it and what it can do for your organization.
Hope this helps!

You can use a shared drive and place documents on it so a group of people can access and edit documents. Much easier and IT can set it up for you.

Characteristics of an Executive Dashboard
The design of executive dashboards varies depending upon the needs of the executives for which they are designed. However, well-designed executive dashboards commonly have the following characteristics:
1. The executive dashboard is accessed with a web browser.
2. The executive dashboard is highly graphical in nature. It takes three seconds, not three hours, to understand the key information you need to do your job.
3. The executive dashboard is tailored to the needs of the executive who uses them. The VP of Sales probably doesn't need to see the total sick days taken this quarter like the VP of Human Resources may.
4. The executive dashboard starts with a 30,000 foot view and, by clicking on the relevant graph or map, the user can drill down into more detail. Navigation is easy and intuitive. One working finger on a mouse can move you almost anywhere.
5. The executive dashboard is automatically updated with the latest available data so you're not making decisions based on old information.
6. The executive dashboard lets the user print or save all or part of the dashboard so the information can be shared with those who don't have access to the information.
